Marathon Petroleum Company hired RCM Architects, in hopes of adding some spice to its 3rd Floor Cafeteria. With an upswing of employees on the horizon due to Marathon's growth, the existing prep kitchen, serving area, and dining hall did not function as well as it was originally intended. They were looking for fresh ideas to remake this space for their staff and company guests.
RCM, working with kitchen specialist, was able to redesign the prep and service area for a better workflow. This allowed the cook and servers better access to the hot bar, cold bar, and salad bar areas, while improving the traffic patterns of those looking to enjoy their lunch. Ceiling clouds and new lighting helped guide people to their favorite foods of choice. The dining room was updated with three different styles of tables and chairs, that lend themselves to varying sizes of groups. High tops were added for those in a hurry, while lower cafe-style and other larger tables and chairs were added for small and large groups to gather. The area was complemented with warm color selections for the upholstery, flooring, and wall treatments. Framed art throughout the area was the finishing touch to this heavily used area.
With the many employees that rely on this space daily, construction on this project was completed in one week.
